Kidneys are a vital part of your body, and their main task is to clean your blood and remove waste out through your urine. Unfortunately, when your kidneys are not working well, waste gradually accumulates, devastatingly affecting your health. Diabetes is the most common cause of kidney disease, followed by other causes such as hypertension, immune disorders, congenital conditions, or genetic conditions. Kidney disease is not reversible, but if identified early, it can be treated.
Routine testing in high-risk patients will identify kidney disease early, and appropriate referral to kidney specialists will improve long-term kidney health.
